After much ‘soulful’ thought I have decided to post my spiritually guided messages separately from the ‘Monthly Astro News’ feeling that separating the information into two would not only be much easier for me to write and ‘tune into' my Guides but also for you to read.

This month I was intuitively guided to write about the consequences of stress on our wellness and how day to day stress levels can severely impact our physical, psychological and mental health and the ways in which we can overcome them (watch this space for next week’s blog post on tips to help you manage the effects of daily stress).

Did you know stress can also affect your psychic abilities? Scientists have proven that people who regularly meditate can shrink their Amygdala and slowly repair their Hippocampus (commonly related with the functioning of our memory and the temporal lobe of the brain).

The Hippocampus acts as a key player in the raising of our consciousness. Meditation has not only been proven to calm the mind and body, restore any damage to the immune system and emotional responses, but with a daily routine of meditation you can in addition enhance and develop the “third eye” enriching your natural spiritual skills.

Practicing meditation, even just 10 minutes per day, can permanently strengthen the most developed part of your brain and frontal lobe, which is related to increase mental thought, cognitive reasoning, inspiration, and optimism.

Daily meditation activates the brain to release naturally arising neurotransmitters, including dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins, which are associated with different aspects of bliss from simple happiness to a deep awareness of calm.

Regardless of which technique you choose to meditate, sitting quietly in stillness even as little as 10 minutes a day can assist in clearing your mind; confronting and minimizing negative conscious and unconscious thinking patterns; and inviting a deeper connection to your divine soul within, transcending your thoughts, state of mind, and conditions. In time, meditation will raise your energetic frequency and give a happier, more uplifted understanding of yourself, others and Earth.

Below is a meditation technique that anyone can try at any time to help with stress, aid in improving your nervous system and to contribute to stabilising the emotional responses resulting in steady mindfulness.

Concentrative Meditation

To practice a concentrative meditation, fix a firm stare on any one particular object. For example, looking at the flame of a burning candle, a river or stream, a crystal, painting and or a flower. The mind is gently emptied to achieve a distinctive thought. Our thoughts are fixated only on the object. When any other thoughts enter the mind, they are put aside, and the mind is refocused on the object. The aim of concentrative meditation is to teach the brain to develop focus.

Some eastern religions believe that concentrative meditation opens the ‘third eye’ which is said to aid in the development of a spiritual connection between the conscious self and the higher-self (or the universe or God, whatever we may sense God to be).

Key to Spiritual Health and Wellness

Health

The digestion system. Issues relating to the abdomen, pancreas and intestines. Feelings of stress and anxiety. Try foods that help with digestion. Begin a healthy raw diet. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables. Eat nuts and herbal teas. Seek advice from a Naturopath and Dietician. Buy from your local Farmers market. Pursue Holistic Counselling. Concerns from the Nervous system and the ‘flight or fight’ response. Attempt a new recipe, fresh fruit juices and organic food. Undertake natural herbs and medications and vitamins and minerals.

Self-Care

Mindful activities. Meditation, deep breathing and relaxation techniques. Feet massage. Be of service. Yoga classes. Spring clean your home. Sort and re-organise the office. Join a writers group. Seek and share important information. Enjoy wood carving, embroidery and gardening. Play chess, scrabble, mind games and crossword puzzles. Learn and teach. Spend time alone in nature. Appreciate being single. Take pleasure in the local library or book store and delight in a great novel. Commence a form of study. Write in a journal. Practice a ‘Gratitude’ and ‘Body Care’ meditation. Listen to classical music. Throw away expired foods and medication. Use eucalyptus, Saint-John’s-wort. Chickweed and chamomile. Essential oils and flower remedies. Daily muscle relaxation.
